I've had my caravan for at least 2 in game weeks and it has yet to make more than 400 a day. My daily troopy cost alone is 350, and the cost for the caravan is 250. I'm losing money every damn day and my caravan is doing nothing.
Never pay for upgraded caravans. All that extra 7.5k does is upgrade a few caravan guards to veteran caravan guards. It doesn't increase the caravan size or anything else. Just not worth it. The other thing, they might be attacked by looters, but once the battle commences, every bandit group in the area will pile in.

Caravans work, Ive been making boat loads of money from them. caravans are not meant to be stable income, thats workshops domain. Trade depends on demand/supply. At some points in the past (tho rare) it was possible to over caravan the game which led to flat prices but this was when peace was too common and the resource map was very different.

Indeed, everything a caravan gets captured, you'll need to first go and meet up with your companion (he might be in a far away city as well) and then recreate a caravan for 15k. Make of that what you want. Good luck ! Damn, so we need good warriors to lead those caravans.

do you mean if you can own a caravan under your name? yeah just hire a companion, go in a town to one of the merchants and tell him you want a caravan, then pay the 15K and have your dude in your party. from then on he will lead the caravan, if you are at war you shouldnt do that cause they get taken down fast, if you are not at war they ususally survive long enugh to make you a good plus.

I am a noob, just having fun and trying not to get to the fief thing, it´s too freaking complicated. Anyway, after getting around 40-60 decent troops I started escorting caravans, by far my biggest money maker. In my last run I visited 4 cities including the end target, in each I was lucky to find a tournament. That in conjunction with 40 raiders loot x 4 + prisoners I made a whole heck a lot
I created a caravan but even after 15 days it still did not make a single coin only wasting money in the wages, can someone help pleaseeeee?
In my test here I found another trader NPC and started another caravan for 18k. Started her on Summer 7, it is now Autumn 6, made 402/lost 183, so she made me money. (I literally have the game running at fast pace while typing this).'. It is now Autumn 8. The first trade earned 402 (wages 212), second made 741 (cost 183).
It is now making a steady 400+ gold ever since returning to its starting point. Trade skills up pretty fast for your caravan companions. You're better off looking for other skills such as riding and scouting for faster map speed, tactics leader medic for better fighting, and let their trade skill up while they go.
